STAAD Foundation Advanced Help

Pile/Soil Bearing Capacity Factors form

A spreadsheet table used to assign serviceability and design factors for each load case in a project.

By default, STAAD Foundation Advanced assigns the value as 1 for pile or soil bearing factors depending on the load type. The default values can be changed by typing new values into the table like any spreadsheet. The <Tab> key or arrow keys may be used to move from one cell to the next in the table.

Based on this table, increase or decrease in pile capacity or soil bearing capacity for a particular load case can be achieved. For example, consider that for earthquake load cases, soil bearing capacity can be increased by 33% for many standard practices and code provisions. This can be achieved by typing 1.33 in the Pile/Soil Bearing Capacity Factor (Multiplier) column for the seismic load cases.

Note: Soil bearing Capacity Factors are not applicable to mat foundation module
